Model United Nations, MUN

The United Nations is about gathering together different cultures, political systems, and peoples, and giving them the opportunity to try and make the world a better place for our future generations.

Model UN programs exist for the same reasons. All across the United States, and throughout the world, young people gather together every year to simulate various bodies within the United Nations system, as well as other international governmental organizations.

Students come together to learn from one another. They come together to teach one another. Model UN gives our future leaders an understanding of the problems our world faces, and the knowledge of how to best deal with those problems. ACHS MUN is a proud part of the Model UN program in the United States.

Delegate Members:

ACHS students desirous of participating in the MUN program must meet the academic team standard of 3.25 minimum cumulative G.P.A. Applications are available from team advisors upon notification in the school bulletin. Recommendations from three (3) teachers are required in the preliminary stages. Academic standing and citizenship are requisite. Upon initial screening, applicants will face an oral interview with present team seniors, demonstrating verbal ability, problem solving and spontaneous oratory skills. A writing sample requiring research and preparation will be included as part of the screening procedure.

Students contemplating participation should realize that this adjunct activity requires rigorous academic preparation, time and commitment. At all times, students will be required to meet requirements and standards as explained in weekly meetings and understand the fundamental procedures of team membership.
